I LOVE working with people to solve their health mystery and get them on the path to a healthy and happy life. If you’re struggling with troublesome digestive or hormonal symptoms that won’t go away, we’re about to do some great work together.

I consider myself a “health detective” and specialize in working with adults on their digestive and adrenal wellness – I pick through your health history, labs, symptoms and more and look for clues to figure out what’s really causing your symptoms and help you fix it. My approach is holistic which means that although I am a dietitian/nutritionist, my work does not focus solely on nutrition. In fact, we’ll talk about the many lifestyle factors (sleep, stress, exercise, social experiences, etc) that can play a part in your condition and work on making those areas of your life better.

If you’re sick of rushing through your symptoms with your doctor for 15 minutes (Really? That’s it??) and feel like they don’t really get what’s going on with you, you’re in the right place. Here you will be listened to and understood, and we don’t have to rush through your appointment.

If you’re overwhelmed trying to read everything you can about your condition (which just stresses you out in the process), you’re in the right place. I’ll make it as simple and straightforward as it can possibly be for you. While it may not be easy or uncomplicated, you’ll know exactly what you need to be doing to heal and I’ll be there for you as we work through it.

Kelsey’s case review is very thorough as she goes over the Client Intake Form and she knows the right questions to ask to ensure she understands what I am feeling and experiencing. She knows exactly what diet changes are needed and what lifestyle changes and supplements are required while ensuring that a new supplement will not exacerbate my health condition.

After three years of seeing several health practitioners to figure out what was causing my symptoms Kelsey knew right away and knew exactly what to do about it. Her confidence and knowledge makes me feel so hopeful that things will finally get better under her care. With a couple of simple diet changes I improved within one week. I wish I had known about Kelsey earlier.

Kelsey is easy to talk with and her sincerity and determination to get me feeling better is obvious. I trust her.

Who I Can Help

While I have experience treating many types of health conditions, I do my best work in the areas of digestive and adrenal/hormonal health. If you have a question about your particular health condition and my ability to help you, don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll let you know if I think I can help.

Digestive Wellness:

Digestive problems can really wreak havoc on your life. If you’re ready to put in the work to heal, I’m ready to help you get through it! I work with those who suffer from:

  • Digestive symptoms like bloating/gas, constipation/diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain but don’t have a diagnosis (though you’ve seen a doctor about it)
  • GERD/reflux/LPR
  • Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
  • Dysbiosis or microbial imbalance (overgrowth of “bad” bacteria and not enough good bacteria)
  • IBS
  • Celiac and gluten intolerance
  • FODMAP intolerance
  • Food sensitivity

Note: I do my best work with those who haven’t waited so long to address their digestive health that they can only eat a very very limited diet (i.e. 10-15 foods). If your diet is currently this limited, I highly suggest finding a functional medicine doctor who will be able to give you the help you need.

Anita S.

I have post-infectious IBS with serious food sensitivities, lots of GI symptoms, and trouble regulating my glucose levels. I tried a lot of western and alternative therapies and have ended up stuck time after time.

Kelsey was highly knowledgeable about what was happening in my body, how to begin to reintroduce foods into my diet, and navigating the vast world of supplements. I loved working with Kelsey for her collaborative approach. She genuinely respected my knowledge of my own body, experiences, and fears. She was compassionate, optimistic, supportive, and helped me to stay on track to meet my goals.

I have been blessed to have Kelsey work with me on my health issues. I am 47 years old and have had health problems all of my life. My digestive issues are severe.

She has helped me figure out what is wrong and is giving me direction with what to do. I have seen many doctors, therapists, and a nutritionist in the past and none have been able to help me with my digestive disorders. I am thankful that Kelsey has been able to do that.

Because of the severity of my digestive disorders, we are still working together, and I am very thankful for her knowledge and direction. At this point, I am not having abdominal pain which is a miracle, and I'm feeling better overall. Kelsey is great at figuring out the cause of each symptom. Thank you, Kelsey!

Adrenal/Hormonal Health:

The HPA axis is the control center for all of our stress reactions, and its functionality affects almost every facet of our being. Those with “adrenal fatigue” (more scientifically called “HPA axis dysregulation”) or hormonal problems may experience the following symptoms that respond well to holistic diet and lifestyle change:

  • Utter exhaustion, especially compared to previous energy levels
  • Problems sleeping (insomnia, multiple wake-ups during the night)
  • Feeling stressed out or unable to cope with stressful situations
  • Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
  • Difficulty exercising (i.e. exercise intolerance)
  • Increased allergies
  • Multiple infections (colds, viruses, digestive infections, staph, etc)
  • Blood sugar imbalance (often low blood sugar)
  • Low blood pressure (feeling dizzy when standing from a seated position is a common indicator of this)
  • Infertility
  • Amenorrhea (lack of a regular period)

Note: I am happy to work with those who have already completed (or are in the midst of completing) my Paleo Rehab: Adrenal Fatigue course. In fact, it is a GREAT addition to our work together!

Kate O.

A life-changing experience. I met Kelsey through her adrenal fatigue program. As it turned out, I had adrenal fatigue and a histamine intolerance.

Kelsey has helped me navigate through this very complicated issue with her expert-level knowledge. With her help, I am managing this condition with minimal discomfort... a major change from feeling sick and nauseous every day. It is worth every penny to get Kelsey's help!

How We Work Together

The Comprehensive Symptom Investigation (CSI) is where all of my clients start. This is where we dive deep into your health history, symptoms, labs, lifestyle, and more to figure out what we can do to improve your health. Here’s what you can expect when you sign up for the CSI appointment.

Here's how it all works!

When you sign up for the CSI appointment, you'll be able to log in an online portal to fill out my Client Intake Form. This is loooooong (I like to be thorough!) so expect to take some time filling it out. You don't have to complete it in one sitting, so feel free to come back to it to add more, change your answers, etc. Be honest about where you're at right now and we'll get you to where you want to be.

I spend time going over your Intake Form prior to our appointment together (so make sure you submit it at least 24 hours in advance!) to look for clues. I'll start compiling my list of diet, supplement and lifestyle changes for your to try along with the lab tests I believe will help us get closer to identifying the root of the problem. It's about this time that I start getting super excited to work with you because I see so many ways that we can improve your health!

At last, our appointment! I will call you via phone or Skype (voice-only, so you don't even have to get out of your PJs) and we'll spend 60 glorious minutes together. First, we'll walk through your Intake Form so I can make sure I understand everything and know what you've tried before, what has worked, and what hasn't. From there, I'll let you know the action steps I believe you should take to get you feeling healthier as quickly as possible! But don't worry, this is a collaborative process - we can take it as slowly or as quickly as you feel comfortable with. I want you to be as excited about these changes as I am so that you'll follow through.

The day after your appointment, you'll get an email from me that includes your custom What's Next packet detailing the action steps we made together during our CSI call (so don't worry about taking notes during the appointment!). This will vary from case to case of course, but typically includes dietary and lifestyle changes, a personalized supplement regimen (via online portal and a bonus 10% discount on professional-grade supplements), and additional laboratory tests that will help us nail down the culprit.

Next, I get together with my meal planning RD (Sam, she's awesome!) and we create a custom Meal Template personalized to your case, which you'll receive approximately 4 business days after our CSI call. This includes your recommended calorie intake, macronutrient breakdown, and a one day template that shows you how much you should eat at each meal and snack.

For example, you'll see breakfast listed as 4 oz protein, 1 cup carbohydrate, 1 tbsp fat. You'll have recommended foods for each macronutrient -- if you need to do a low histamine diet, for example, you'll have a low histamine food list for each macronutrient that you can pull from. Then you get 10 sample recipes pulled from around the web with the necessary modifications for your particular diet type.

It's implementation time! You'll begin putting those action steps into play and reaping the rewards. You'll have email access to me during this time in case anything comes up, so don't worry -- you're not all on your own yet!

We meet up for a 20-minute follow up call 2-3 weeks after our initial CSI call. We'll use this time to go over any new labwork, tweak our plan based on your results so far, and of course answer any questions you have!

From here, you can sign up for additional follow-ups with me if you'd like to.
